The Bono Regional Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) planted eight (8) Coconut seedlings at the office premises as part of the observation of the Greening Ghana Campaign Project initiated by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Joseph Mensah, Bono Regional Director of the NHIA says, the NHIA as a corporate entity at all levels is proud to associate itself with the Greening Ghana Project as it has a strong link with the health of the citizenry.

According to Mr. Mensah, the Greening Ghana project has a common feature with the NHIS’s color ‘green’ found in its corporate logo which signifies and effort of promoting good quality health for the people through the benefits enjoyed from trees in general.

He enumerated some importance of trees to human existence as cleaner air for breathing, food for growth and energy, medicine for healing, economically as source of income, socially for shade and beautification, and environmentally as wind brakes and prevention of erosion, for ecological balance.

The planting of the coconuts was done according to departments under the NHIA regional office, as were as the women caucus and the National Service Personnel there.

The Regional Director encourage all to take active part in the Green Ghana project and at least plant a tree today and replicate it as a personal annual ritual.
